Editorial and Corrections Policy

How recipes are developed, how cost estimates are handled, and how we fix errors.

What Budget Plates publishes

Budget Plates publishes home-cooking recipes with an estimated cost per serving on every one. The focus is inexpensive, everyday dinners that a normal home kitchen can make with widely available ingredients.

How recipes are developed

Recipes are written to be clear, affordable, and repeatable, using widely available ingredients and standard home equipment. Each recipe includes ingredients with per-line cost estimates, step-by-step instructions, cheaper ingredient swaps, storage and reheating guidance, nutrition estimates, and answers to common questions.

Cost estimates

Every price on the site is an estimate. The full method is on the How we calculate recipe costs page. Prices vary by store, brand, region, and season, and are reviewed periodically.

Corrections

We aim to be accurate, but estimates and instructions can be wrong or go out of date. If you find an error, a price that looks off for your area, or a step that did not work, tell us on the contact page. We review reports and update the affected recipe when a correction is warranted.

Substantive corrections are made directly on the recipe page so the live version is always the corrected one.

Contact

Questions, corrections, and suggestions are always welcome. Reach us on the contact page.
